Reading search results

Open dataset details and check product, process, region, and unit.

Candidates need checking before they become calculation inputs.

Tables in the conversation retain dataset links. Open one to view details in the side panel: name, reference product, database, version, system model, region, unit, and description. Available fields depend on the source.

A failed detail request should not remove a candidate or link already obtained during search. Missing information and restricted access are different cases. Do not fill a gap with another dataset’s value.

Product and process

Distinguish raw materials, processing activities, and finished products. Polyethylene granulate can be a material input to film production; it is not finished film or a construction product. Also check virgin or recycled content, formulation, and forming process.

Production and market

Production data describes a production activity. Market data may include supply mixes, transport, and losses. Check the description to avoid counting a process twice.

Unit, region, and boundary

Check how the dataset unit converts to the amount required by your model, whether the region fits, and which processes are included. Values from different system models or impact assessment methods cannot be compared solely by magnitude.

Free results

Free database results are listed separately in the conversation. Check that the product and use fit, and note differences in process, region, and boundary. Continue the conversation when you need to add conditions.
